U14 Girls Basketball

While the boys competed in Duisburg our U14 Girls Basketball team took part in the annual GISST tournament at Berlin International School.

In a weekend filled with ups and downs, the girls were able to amend for the disappointing 10th place from last year by finishing with a strong 6th place. The competition level was high as every team from 10 different international schools came with a desire to win, but our girls were able to convince their opponents they did not come to watch the show pass by. After a first day filled with good plays, the girls were highly motivated to attack Saturday morning with a quarterfinal match, which resulted in an heartbreaking loss to the team that would eventually win first place; ISHR (Hanover). Fortunately, they were able to bounce back in the following game and clinch a top 6 position for the day. Veteran Noemi D. has proved herself a valuable player with multiple points, with newcomer Julie H. by her side to complete plays. Late addition to the team Nell M. and Ada Ö. proved themselves to be great addition, as Nell ‘’nelled’’ multiple plays and baskets and Ada leading the team in rebounds. There is definitely a bright future ahead in basketball for this group of young ladies and we can only expect a better result next year.

Congratulations and well done to the U14 basketball girls, coach Jessica Croteau and chaperone Katie Treppenhauer!
