Presenting our 25th anniversary logo and its designer

ISF is celebrating its 25th anniversary this academic year, and what a strange year to celebrate in! Until now we have been focusing our efforts on continuing learning during the corona pandemic and the wellbeing of students and teachers, so we haven't yet begun to celebrate what makes our school so special. We are certainly appreciating the experience of the school and the investment ISF and SABIS® have made into digitalization over the past years, giving us a solid foundation for online learning. We now look forward to celebrating our 25th anniversary over the rest of the year.

Today we would like to present our 25th anniversary logo to you. Students are at the heart of our school, and we know how artistic they can be through the work that comes out of our visual arts department, so who better to design the logo than the students themselves? We asked students to submit their designs and were again so impressed at the creativity and design savvy in the results. Of course, there can only be one winner, and that is... Seongyeop from Grade 12.

We spoke to Seongyeop to find out a bit more about him and his design...

Name: Seongyeop Song

Grade: 12

ISF Student: Grade 9-12

Have you always been interested in art/design?

Yes, when I have free time, I like to just sit down and draw things that come to my mind.

Is design something you would like to pursue in the future?

I don't particularly consider design as a profession, but I am going to continue as a hobby, just a way to relieve stress and to be creative.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

Other than drawing, I personally like to watch animations, especially those from Pixar studios. Some of my favorite films from Pixar are ‘Wall-E’, ‘CoCo’ and ‘Up’. Also, listening to Korean ballads is also one of my favorite hobbies. There is a singer named Paul Kim, a singer that I’m a huge fan of, and I’m sure everyone will enjoy listening to his songs.

What are your plans once you graduate from ISF?

I’m planning to go back to South Korea for university, but because I don’t really have a detailed plan about my future, I would rather talk about my short-term non-academic plans. As a person who likes traveling, when I graduate (and if the pandemic is over), I want to travel around different cities around the world. However, if this pandemic situation continues, I wish to just stay at home, subscribe to Disney Plus, and rewatch all Disney and Pixar films in a row.

Where do you see yourself in 25 years?

I’m not sure… But, one thing for sure is that I would be living on Earth, enjoying the same hobbies.

What is your favorite thing about being a student at ISF?

One thing that I like about ISF is that the students have the opportunity to meet other students from all over the world, and that they all can communicate and build bonds with each other. I’m sure it is a great opportunity and a valuable experience for all students, including me, as I also learned a lot from my international friends.
