Sommerfest

This year the ISF Sommerfest took place on Saturday 9th May. We were treated to a culinary journey around the world from fifteen different countries as well as a United Nations stand featuring smaller countries. There were a wide range of delicacies to choose from including “Sloppy Joes” from the USA, curries from India, Thailand and Malaysia; Döner kebab from Turkey and blinies from Russia, as well as Brazilian, German, Korean, Japanese, Italian, Mexican, Spanish and UK specialities. ISF parents put a lot of effort into preparing the dishes which we all thoroughly enjoyed.

Outside the PE Department and Sportverein organised the sporting activities with soccer matches played by various grades. Students could also see how fast they could sprint on our state-of-the-art running track.

In the theatre we enjoyed a Classical Concert, run by our Music Department. This included solos by ISF students: Sun Young K. G10 (drums), Joo Ho K. G7 & Minghui L. G5 (both piano). This was followed by a delightful performance from our Tiny Ballerinas from Grades 1-3, who are taught by G11 student, Masha S., in an after-school SLO® activity

The Talent Show featured 13 acts with singing, dancing, rap and classical music performances. The winner in the Primary section was talented flautist, Minghui L. from G5, followed by the dazzling G5 Korean dance trio, Min Kyoung K., Sehyun L. and Yeeun D. with Catallena/Orange C. in second place. Ava F. from G6 came in third place with an a cappella version of “Blue Swede Shoes” by Elvis Presley. In the Secondary section, Hyowon S. gave an exquisite performance of “Meditation” by Glazunov, accompanied by Gyuri K. to win first place. Archee B. from G9 took second place with a very elegant contemporary Indian dance. Thea H. came in third place singing “Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran, accompanying herself on the guitar.

Parents were also able to visit the Science Fair and purchase some books from the library book sale. This year we raised €584 for our Kenya project with tickets for the tombola. Visitors won some great prizes including basketball tickets, cinema vouchers, MTZ vouchers, lego and other toys. Ross C. from Grade 9 was the lucky winner of our top prize of two Lufthansa tickets within Europe. Our other sponsors this year were Fraport Skyliners, Fahrschule Brauer and Kinder Zauberzähne.
